MaiaSpace’s Challenge: Creating a Structured Yet Flexible Framework
“We started from a blank slate in terms of rules. We didn’t have any specific problems to solve — it was more about preventing potential issues we didn’t want to see arise in our company. To do that, we needed to set up a clean, clear, well-defined, and simple structure, simple enough not to overcomplicate things since we were just starting out, but structured enough to avoid going in all directions with too much freedom.Tuleap, among other tools, helped us establish this framework where all teams could integrate smoothly, without feeling constrained by the tool itself.”Agility at MaiaSpace: A Hybrid SAFe and Scrum Approach
“Tuleap is the tool that drives our activity. We work within a SAFe and Scrum framework, meaning all the usual ceremonies are in place. Every day, we have a quick 15-minute stand-up to check our progress toward our objectives.Every three weeks, we hold a planning session to define the strategy that will guide us for the next iteration, followed by a review at the end of those three weeks.
In practice, Tuleap is there all the time. I’ve configured the tool so that different screens appear depending on the ceremony.
During daily stand-ups, for example, we can see all our tasks linked to macro-tasks, or just a simple list of tasks if the teams prefer.
Every three weeks, we take a step back to plan the next iteration: how we’ll create our macro-tasks, as we call them, and how to organize them relative to one another.
In short, Tuleap is the tool that helps us realign ourselves with the activities we’ve chosen to pursue as part of our strategy. It’s truly present at every step.”
Why Tuleap? Transparency, Trust, and Adaptability
“At Ariane Group, I was the France lead for Confluence and Jira. When MaiaSpace was founded, there was a clear intention to move away from those tools, which had gained disproportionate influence within Ariane Group’s digital ecosystem. So we said: we’re a French start-up, small, fast, and agile.Who do we want to work with?
After exploring several options, it quickly became clear that we wanted to go with open source. It’s about building a relationship based on trust, and that’s how we want to work.
Even though our own program can’t be open source, we want to support the open-source model by choosing and investing in open-source solutions.”
